Let me peel back the curtain for a minute. I’ve been preaching on my little soap box about SEO for years – over 6 to be exact. As long as I’ve been offering support to bloggers, I’ve been fielding SEO questions. And at first, I had no answers. Which sent me to the books and websites. The advice was, and is, as varied as the pollen in the air. Which sent me deeper into the reasons for the huge chasm in SEO approaches. (not to use the words, black and white and hat, but it was black hat and white hat)
At first, I had no answers. But not one to ever back down from a challenge, I began researching SEO. The advice was, and is, as varied as the pollen in the air. Which sent me deeper into the reasons for the chasm in SEO approaches. (not to use the words, black and white hat, but it was black hat and white hat)
So I started teaching what I knew. This approach is not taught elsewhere. And it has never failed me nor my clients in all these years – and better yet – we don’t even have to clamber over ourselves to update the meta data every time Google announces an algorithm update.
While others are researching what happened and what to do about it, we continue to operate along the 5 Pillars. One case I’m particularly proud of happened a few years ago during the Panda update. A blogger client was blacklisted and we worked our tushes off to get her back to PR 4.
So am I an “SEO”?
No. I do not offer SEO. But I do offer services and training that will help you rank better in search engines. But I do not, and until things change, will not ever work in the field of SEO – as long as it means changing up your site to get higher in Google rankings. Can you see the difference:
SEO: changing your site so Google will rank you higher
5 Pillars: aligning your site with Google’s goals so they promote your organically
This difference plays out in several ways. Let’s go over 3 so you can protect yourself while making decisions about the optimization of your site.
Difference #1 between SEO & 5 Pillars
SEO guesses at what factors Google is prioritizing and moves your keywords into those high priority spots.
5 Pillars knows what Google wants and serves the content in the best way possible to compete organically
Difference #2 between SEO & 5 Pillars
SEO panics and re-arranges information on every Google algorithm update.
5 Pillars doesn’t notice any algorithm changes (except oftentimes a benefit).
Difference #3 between SEO & 5 Pillars
SEO runs in the gray area(and that’s being generous) of following Google guidelines, and with that a risk of getting penalized.
5 Pillars finds the best practices, promotes great content that doesn’t require any cheating – thus no penalties. Ever.
So what exactly are the 5 Pillars?
It is a new system that I’ve put together from the stuff that I’ve always taught, written about, and given away. It is composed of the psychology behind SEO and 5 separate pillars of optimization that are necessary to align with Google’s goals. And they will ALWAYS align. These are the 5 pillars of optimization:
- Relevant Keywords
- Authoritative Copy
- Outstanding Media
- Fresh Engagement
- Easy UI Website
I’ll be going through all five pillars at a webinar. But trust me – I’m not giving away 1 pillar and leaving you hanging; I’m not talking about how great I am for 30 minutes and asking for your money. This is just a solid 40 minutes of TONS of info. So bring a notebook. Unless you just like the slides, then you can have a copy of those.
Here’s more info on the webinar. (Register asap – it is on Thursday!! )
