Hold onto your hats, because this wagon is not stopping now.
Welcome to mid January, when your fitness goals start feeling more like fitness nightmares again, and eating chips watching the Gilmore Girls sounds like a heck of alot more fun than those squat jumps.
I am here to tell you, now is NOT the time to jump… stay on the wagon because what is up ahead is magical if you can just hold on.
I know the road is bumpy, and giving up is the easy paved road. But not having the energy to keep up with your family and your work is a whole other forest you don’t want to get lost in. Here are 3 big ways people fall off (or in some cases get thrown off) the wagon, followed by 3 ways you can strap on that helmet and hold on tight.
- You aren’t making any promises. If you cannot commit to working out with a friend, or signing up for a class or even checking in with a group, you are more likely to cancel on yourself.
- Giving up before you start. By telling yourself you might workout or you’re “thinking” about starting gives you an easy out. Not writing it down or making plans makes it an option. Why start something you have no intentions of finishing.
- Make unrealistic expectations. Having the all or nothing mentality makes it pretty easy to cut out early or never go in the first place. I mean why bother if you only have 10 min right?
Wrong, wrong, wrong! Let’s ditch these negative thoughts… like now!
Make some promises to yourself. Really think about WHY you want this, and why you started in the first place. Team up with a friend, sign up for a group hold yourself accountable because you deserve this. You are worthy of loving yourself and your body. If you need some support and accountability I would love to ride in your little red wagon with you.
Don’t quit on yourself before you even start. Give yourself the grace to fit fitness into your busy schedule, and remember little steps over time lead to big changes. Write it down, put it in your calendar, tell your family and your significant other about your plans and goals. Don’t give yourself the option to opt out.

That time during the commercial or even a bathroom break is enough time to make something out of nothing. Do jumping jacks during the commercial. Do 10 squats every time you use the restroom. It is really THAT simple. Set an alarm on your phone to stand up every 15 min (or so) and just move your body, even taking 5 deep breathes in through your nose and out through your mouth will increase your energy levels and keep you calm and stress free throughout your day.
By the way… You totally got this girl! You have everything you need within you, you just have to believe in yourself and hold on tight, because magic lies ahead.
