The Pinterest Creator Rewards Program Guide

Have you heard of the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program? It’s here and we hope you can add another income stream to your portfolio!

We’ve outlined all the information you need to start making money from Pinterest itself!

What is the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program?

The Pinterest Creator Rewards Program was launched in October 2021 as a incentive to attract more creators to the platform and encourage creators to create original, quality content. According to Pinterest’s website, The Creator Rewards is a program for creators to earn money for creating original Idea Pins in response to monthly reward goals created by Pinterest. Pinterest will pay creators directly for their most inspiring, quality content and organic engagement.

How to get into the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program?

The Creator Rewards program is currently in beta and only available to select users in the US. I believe we will see it expanded internationally later this year, going into 2023.

In order to be eligible to be part of the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program, you must:

  • Have a business account
  • Be 18 years or over
  • Be a legal resident of, and located in, the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
  • Have at least 250 followers
  • Have created at least three Idea Pins in the last 30 days*

How to get Access to the Pinterest Creator Rewards Program?

Unfortunately it is not enough to meet the above basic requirements to gain access to the program, you have to apply to be part of the program as Pinterest has a selection process.

To find out if you have access to the program, open the Pinterest app on your mobile. Please ensure your app is updated and has version 9.33 or higher.

The creator hub will show up as a big red button under your Pinterest profile. Once you’re inside the creator hub, you will be able to click “Get Started” and apply. If you are not eligible, you will not have the ability to apply.

Once you’ve been accepted into the program, you will see Hub and Earn at the very top. If you have the Earn tab, click it and you will see prompts for the reward goals that Pinterest is willing to pay you for.

How to get Paid

After you’ve been accepted to the Creator Rewards program, you’ll need to provide documentation verifying your identity. You will also need to link to a United States bank account in order to get paid by Pinterest for your content.

Your accumulated earnings will be deposited to your linked bank account after 30 days of the reward goal ending. Payouts happen the month following the end of the reward goal.

What’s Next?

Now that you are all set up, you are ready to start making content. As Pinterest already stressed, they are looking for inspiring, quality content that evokes organic engagement.

e creative and focus more on content that educates and shows the user how to make/achieve something. Tutorial or step-by-step guides are very popular.

Right now, the Creator Rewards program focuses on idea pins. They will give you prompts for your Idea Pins and it’s important to note that you MUST follow Pinterest’s content guidelines in order to be potentially paid.

In the terms and conditions, Pinterest says that eligible Idea Pins submitted to the Creator Rewards program must:

  • Be original
  • Must not have been published elsewhere and must not have been submitted for any other program/promotion
  • Must comply with their best practices
  • Needs to meet all goal criteria
  • Clearly and “conspicuously” disclose if you endorse Pinterest
  • Comply with Community Guidelines
  • You must have all third party rights (including copyrights of music and lyrics, trademarks, rights of publicity, and more) that are necessary. (Tip: Use the music in Pinterest’s native music library to avoid copyright issues!)
  • Content cannot be paid, sponsored, or promoted content and can’t be “manually boosted”

Pinterest will post new reward goals monthly. You can participate by creating an Idea Pin in response to each goal. Each reward goal will have a description, payout amounts, and requirements.

How much money can you make with Pinterest Creator Rewards?

Pinterest said it is investing $20 million for Creator Rewards and other initiatives to support creators. But since the Creator Rewards program is still new and in beta, how much money you can actually make with the program is uncertain.

According to other creators in the program, Pinterest pays anything from $150 to $1250/pin depending on the various reward goals.

Final Thoughts

I hope this post has helped to answer all your questions regarding the Pinterest Creator Rewards program and how you can make money on Pinterest! As we all know, platforms are battling it out to keep creators on their platforms and many of them have launched Creator programs.

I’m personally very excited about the Pinterest Creator Rewards program. Pinterest has always been one of the best platforms for bloggers to grow their blog and make money. And now that we are able to make money directly from Pinterest, it makes it even better!

This gives you more ways to monetize your content and make the most of it. Creating idea pins does not have to be hard. You can repurpose your blog posts into short videos, or use your TikTok ideas or Instagram Reel ideas.
