Can Contributors upload Photos?

How do I give my Contributors (in WordPress) permission to upload photos?

There are roles built into WordPress for each subscriber.

As the Administrator (after you have logged into your WordPress Dashboard at www.yoursite.com/wp-admin) you have the capability to decide what the default role will be. You may also decide several settings. Or you may take a more granular approach and give each user their own role.

Each role is followed by its corresponding capabilities.

Administrator

  • everything: dashboard, posts, media, links, pages, comments, appearance, plugins, users, tools, and settings

Editor

  • everything except: appearance, plugins, users, tools and settings tabs
  • In other words they can manage all of the content – but not the settings for plugins, themes, users or settings

Author

  • edit, upload photos, publish and delete their own posts
  • Note: may NOT moderate comments

Contributor

  • only edit and delete their own posts
  • Note: may NOT moderate comments
  • Note: may NOT upload photos to their posts or publish them

Subscriber

  • usually the default role
  • may only read posts
