Stop Sites from Stealing Content

An example letter from Lorelle@wordpress.com:

(Actually Lorelle has a great deal of resources and background on copyright infringement, the who and why, and an entire series on what to do about it – if you’re worried about protecting your creatives and writing – that should definitely be on your reading list.)

Prevention will save you this trouble!

Before your content is stolen, there are several things you can do to make it more difficult for thieves. The plugins below will let you copyright your posts instantly; create attractive feeds that are only excerpts; and prevent users from ‘right-clicking’ on your site.

Copyrighting.

This can be done two ways – choose one.

1. simply include a copyright statement (include the date & time) at the bottom of each post.

2. use a premium service that will do this for you – with an indisputable date/time stamp independent of you. We recommend Copyright Proof plugin. This is the best option if you intend to pursue illegal copies of your creations.

Creating Attractive Excerpt Feeds

1. Use RSS Featured Image to add, well, the featured image to your RSS feed.

2. Use RSS Manager to include an excerpt, image, copyright and more.

No Right Clicking!

Simply install WP Content Copy Protector. No one will be able to copy/paste using the contextual menu. This isn’t a complete solution but it makes it that much more difficult.
