Got an email from a foodie coaching company causing alarm (again)? Here is a reasoned and fact-checked reality of what is happening at Yoast – with your information.

Here is word for word, my conversation with the Yoast team this morning. Prompted of course, that food blogging company. And I removed a few pieces that you already know.

Me: I got an email from Feast. They said [insert email].

Anne P:

Yes. Yoast Premium 21.6+ automatically enables the AI Generate / Optimize features. It’s exclusive to Premium and not part of the free version.

Me: What does this mean: Yoast’s AI Services may produce similar Output for you based on Output created by other customers.

Anne P

That sentence means that Yoast’s AI features don’t give every user unique content. Instead, the AI may generate very similar or even identical output for similar prompts from different users. It’s because the AI is trained and fine-tuned using data from multiple users.

Me: Is the AI getting better from using my content? (Some content creators hate that)

Anne P:

No… Yoast’s AI is powered by a static model (like OpenAI’s), trained on public data, not on your specific content. While it may produce similar results for similar prompts, this happens because of shared prompt types, not because it’s learning from or improving based on your content. Your inputs aren’t fed back into the model. (emphasis mine)

Me: This is REALLY Important – are you sure? “Your inputs aren’t fed back into the model.”

Anne P:

Yes, I’m sure. Yoast’s AI doesn’t learn from or improve based on your specific content. Yoast uses a pre-trained model (like OpenAI’s) and your inputs are only used at generation time, not fed back to enhance or retrain their model .

Your content is only used to generate suggestions in the moment, with no long-term data retention or model training.

Me: Thank you! That is all I need. 🙂 May I quote you on my blog post to my foodie clients?

Anne P: Sure!
